Jason “Coach Jay” Shoopak is the heart and soul of the Ninja Academy of Martial Arts. Affectionately referred to as the “Kid Whisperer” by families throughout Pinellas County, Jason founded NAMA in order to combine his passion for martial arts with his strong desire to shape the lives of kids. Born and raised in St. Pete, Coach Jay started training in martial arts at the age of 5. He achieved a first degree black belt in karate, a second degree black belt in Chen To On Shoulin Kung Fu, and a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu, while also studying Muay Thai. He has been a martial arts instructor for over 8 years and studied education and psychology at St. Petersburg College. He is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School, ran a leadership kids camp at the Costello Center, and enjoys sharing his passions as a motivational speaker. A self-proclaimed “Kid at Heart”, Coach Jay is happiest when he’s surrounded by his students.
